“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

Thomas Carlyle

This quote means that you have to have some goals in life. You can’t walk through life and not have any goals. It is impossible not to have any goals. Even the littlest things, which you may not take notice of, are goals. For example, let’s say that you walked to your friend’s house and arrived there. Your goal was to go to your friend’s house. Whatever you want to do or be, you have to set your mind into it. Your goal is to achieve that dream. I wanted to graduate high school and make my mom proud because i'm the first generation here meaning that i'm the first one able to graduate high school. I worked really hard to earn all my credits and now I am 1 week away from actually graduating. Not having goals is like a ship not having a rudder in the way that the goals steer you to where you want to go and what you want to be. The rudder of a ship steers it in the right direction, so your goals should steer you in the right path.

“I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating”

Sophocles
This quote means that you knowing that you did your best but still failed are better than cheating and winning. For example, you have to pass your final in order to pass your class, but you did not have time to study. What would you do? Cheating will get you nowhere. Yes you will pass the class but you won’t know anything and nothing good will come out of it. Now let’s say you took the test, did your best on it but failed, it is by far better than winning by cheating. You proved to yourself and showed yourself that you know what, I should have taken this more serious
Memorial Day
1.     Memorial Day is a day where those who died in active military service are remembered.
2.     The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor all men and women who died during any war or military action.
3.     Memorial Day is on May 25.
4.     A few ways to show honor and respect on Memorial Day is to walk the beaches or taking a short road trip. Many cemeteries have events going on to honor those at their graves site that have fought in the wars. Some amusement parks and tourist attractions let any veterans or anyone still active in the military free admission.
5.

6.     A few things I do to show my respect on memorial day is that I go to the beach and wlk down to where the have all the crosses of those who have served but never cam home. I read some of the stories they have of them and talk to those who have lost someone I  the military. I personally don’t hav anyone that has died tin the military but I am glad that im there to listen to those who may need someone at the moment.

“The most important thing you will ever have is good values.”

Dennis Prager

This quote means that you have to have values in life and that those values should be the most important things in your life. For example, you have to value honest, friendship, relationships, the truth, etc. you have to value them. You cannot let them go to wait and you can’t neglect them and not value them. It is important for you to have them. What are your values in life.

“Nothing is ever gained in doing what’s wrong.”

Wilford Woodruff

There is no benefit from doing what’s wrong. You don’t gain anything from it. For example, you go to a party and there are alcoholic drinks. You drink there and get really drunk. You come home at around midnight and your parents see that you are drunk. They ground you for a month, they are disappointed in you, and you have lost their trust. What did you gain from doing the wrong? Nothing! You didn’t gain anything. The only benefit you will get is when you do the right thing.  Choose the right and you will benefit and gain something.

“The reward for doing right is mostly an internal phenomenon: self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.”

Dr. Laura Schlessinger

This quote means that by doing the right thing you respect and reward yourself. The biggest reward that you can get is from yourself. For example, doing well in school and finishing all your work on time will give you good grades. When you see those grades you will reward yourself and feel good about yourself. Like the quote says, you will earn “self-respect, dignity (self-worth), integrity, and self-esteem.

“When a deep injury is done to us, we never recover until we forgive.”

Alan Paton
Forgive: To stop feeling angry or resentful toward someone for an offense, flaw, or mistake

This quote means that your only way to healing when someone has injured you deeply is to forgive them. There is no other cure than that. For example, I have had someone really close to me do me some great harm. I never thought that he would have done something like that to me. I was hurting for a while. I thought I could get over it but I didn't. Every day I was reminded of what happened and had anger towards him. I thought that by being angry and disappointed in him I would feel better but I didn't. I didn't know that I was also hurting myself. It took me a while to figure out that the only way I could cure myself is to forgive him. I forgave him and I was no longer hurting. Yes the memories are still there but what is most important is that we moved on from that and I forgave him. Forgiveness can cure your deepest injuries.

“Dare to stand alone.”

Thomas S. Monson

This quote means that you shouldn't follow those who are doing wrong. It’s better to stand alone then follow those in the wrong footsteps. For example, you hangout out with a group of people and one day they ask you to go and do some drugs with them. You have to turn around and walk the other way. Its better to be by yourself then get yourself in trouble. Sometimes the people you hang out with aren't who you think they are. So stand alone and choose the right.
Blue Devils

The blue devils are a marching band of at least 50 people. The blue devils were founded in 1957 by Ann and Tony Odello.  The blue devils are one of the best bands in the nation. They have been in the top 5 in the past five consecutive years. They won 6 championships in the past year! That’s six out of 12 titles. The blue devils are a big thing. In the world of marching bands, they are celebrity to us. You have to be one of the best in order to be in that team. It is a marching band member’s dream to be in a corps like the blue devils. Their field shows are amazing as well. It is my dream to see them at least once in my lifetime performing live! It does not get better than the blue devils.
